This week we received for collection a few out-of-state checks from the same person and the checks were completely blank where the customer fills in the information. I thought maybe it was just an imaging problem for these Check 21 images. Today I ran across a news article you might be interested in:

That is really a scary scam they have going on there. I hate to try and rub salt in their wound. But if they were using some kind of Point of Purchase check processing, they would image the checks right then. Even if they did use "disappearing ink", they would have the image of the check before it disappeared and would not have to worry about it.
Unless I am missing something about the ink not being able to get picked up on a check imager as well. But if it stays on there for at least a few minutes, the imager could pick it up with no problem and then they would have the information, even if it was fake. Also, if they are using these doggy ink pens, they could go over the check with a "black light" and the paste residue would most likely still be there. Just some thoughts so people out there wont think this is not a beatable scam in a few different ways. Thanks for the post Last edited by Eddie : 04-09-2008 at 06:59 AM. |
